About Us

Our Story

North Shore Animal Hospital has been a vibrant part of Lynn since 1982. Dr. David Dunn was born and raised here in this neighborhood. Dr. Dunn leased a garage on the Lynnway in 1982 and converted it to be used as an animal hospital and opened as a solo practice. His vision was to create a practice where all clients, patients, and staff are treated like family.

As a result, North Shore Animal Hospital quickly became part of the community and Dr. Dunn became known as the local family vet.

As the community embraced us North Shore Animal Hospital continued to grow over the years, so did the practice and it eventually outgrew its original location. After five years of planning, the current hospital was built at 1 Neptune Boulevard, just a mile from the old building and opened its doors in 1988. After a brief closing the North Shore Animal Hospital was reopened in 2023 by Dr. Peter Dunn.

Over the years we have provided services to numerous humane organizations including MSPCA, Animal Rescue League of Boston, Greyhound Rescue and more than a dozen smaller local rescues.

While we have grown in size, our founding values remain the same. We cherish the relationships that we have developed with our team, our clients and their pets over the years and consider them an extended part of our North Shore Animal Hospital family.

We strive to help you provide comfort and care for your pets. We can help you develop plans and solutions that meet your needs.
