Acupuncture

Many veterinarians blend modern medicine and alternatives to devise a pet care system that meets the needs of pets and their owners.  Dr. Wendy Smillie is a licensed veterinarian and certified acupuncturist with an integrative approach to healing.  She draws upon her extensive training in both eastern and western veterinary medicine to treat and heal animals.

We'd love to talk to you about care and treatment options that could complement and augment the care you are already giving.

Therapeutic Laser Therapy

Infrared laser light from therapy lasers harmlessly penetrates deep into tissues where it is absorbed in the cells, and this energy is converted into chemical, not thermal, energy.  In athletic environments, therapy lasers are primarily used to reduce swelling, reduce pain, and speed the healing process. These mechanisms allow veterinarians to successfully treat a wide range of conditions non-invasively and without drugs.

Stem Cell Therapy

We are now offering stem cell therapy for dogs and cats suffering from osteoarthritis, hip dysplasia and other degenerative diseases.

Stem cells are the repair cells in the body.  This all natural therapy can lengthen and rejuvenate the quality of life of pets suffering from these diseases.  The stem cells reduce inflammation and pain while helping to re-build bone and soft tissue.  Healing will continue from weeks to months and the benefits generally last eighteen months or more without the need for pain medication.

Adipose Stem Cell technology does not involve embryonic stem cells.  The procedure uses the animal’s own adult stem cells from fat tissue to heal and repair, therefore the method is extremely safe.

If you have pet insurance, some companies may cover a portion of the cost.  We will be offering stem cell presentations in the near future so contact our office to reserve your spot.

Platelet Rich PlasmaTherapy

Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP is a product that utilizes blood plasma with concentrated platelets that, once activated, accelerate the healing properties of the isolated growth factors.

K9-ACV Treat Cancer in Dogs with Immunotherapy

Immunotherapy is a new ground-breaking treatment option for dogs with cancer.  Cancer cells normally grow and spread because the immune system fails to recognize them as abnormal, allowing them to continue to metastasize.  The dog's immune system recognizes the cancer cells as detrimental and attack them.

We are currently researching this technology and may soon add this as a treatment option.
